BMO and Soccer
BMO is the Bank of Soccer, and we’re committed to growing the game across North America. We have been supporting soccer for nearly two decades, from grassroots to the professional level. Our long-term partnerships with all three MLS soccer clubs in Canada - Toronto FC, CF Montreal, Vancouver Whitecaps, plus LAFC in the U.S. and Angel City FC in the National Women’s Soccer League have created a widely known and enduring association between the sport of soccer and BMO.
BMO has also invested over C$25 million to engage, develop and cultivate youth soccer at every level of competition across Canada since 2005, supporting over 1 million youth athletes in the sport. Through our local grassroots soccer program BMO supports 80 clubs, totaling 32,000 kids at a national level annually. BMO and CF Montreal also recently announced another step forward in their commitment to gender equity in sports by introducing a women's program to the CF Montréal Academy.
At BMO we believe an equitable sport system is critical to the future of sport and building an inclusive society - one of our three goals at BMO in living our purpose to Boldly Grow the Good in business and in life. We are investing with our partners everyday to increase gender equity in soccer and help tackle barriers to inclusion such as our partnership with Ontario Soccer that supports over 100,000 girls through leadership development and education, our Women in Fellowship rotational leadership program with TFC designed to place more women in professional soccer organizations and newest partnership with Angel City FC where 10% of our investment will support over 400 high school aged girls and gender expansive youth receive no-cost access to soccer and preparation for college through our partnership with Girls Play LA.
